Volunteer

JASNA Southwest is entirely run by volunteers, and we can always use additional help.

Whether you’re interested in an ongoing role, such as coordinating a reading group or filling a need on the board, or if you just want to help out at a specific event, we welcome your participation.

Below, you can explore just a few of the ways you can volunteer with JASNA Southwest.

Reading and Game Groups

  • Organize and/or host a new reading, film or game group in your area

  • Encourage friends to join JASNA Southwest
  • Spread the word about an upcoming event

Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (annually, in April)

  • Coordinate other volunteers
  • Greet and engage visitors
  • Assist with setup and decorating
  • Help break down the booth at the end of the festival

Communications Support

  • Submit stories and photos for the newsletter, website and/or social media
  • Report broken links or content that needs updating
  • Help build our archive of early JASNA Southwest newsletters and event programs and photos

JASNA Southwest Board

  • Fill a vacancy (currently: educational outreach)
  • Provide specialized support such as fundraising
