Welcome to Sanditon
Although Austen only completed 12 chapters of Sanditon, a 28-episode multiplatform series has fleshed out the story and an eight-part miniseries for ITV (UK) and MASTERPIECE on PBS, adapted by Andrew Davies, aired in the UK in fall 2019 and the U.S. in January 2020. Davies is well-known to Janeites for his adaptation of Pride and Prejudice (1995) with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. He also has adapted versions of Emma, Northanger Abbey and Sense and Sensibility.
This eight-part miniseries for Britain’s ITV and MASTERPIECE on PBS premieres in the U.S. on January 12, 2020.

Sanditon (in production??)
Production on the first feature adaptation of Austen’s unfinished novel Sanditon was announced in 2015. Director Jim O’Hanlon previously directed the 2009 mini series version of Emma and screenwriter Simon Reade previously adapted Pride and Prejudice for the stage. However, this appears to no longer be in development, since the announcement of the Andrew Davies-penned version for ITV.
