JASNA-Southwest is entirely run by volunteers, and we can always use additional help.

Whether you’re interested in an ongoing role, such as coordinating a reading group or filling a need on the board, or if you just want to help out at a specific event, we welcome your participation.

Below, you can explore just a few of the ways you can volunteer with JASNA-Southwest.

Reading groups

  • organize and/or host a new reading group in your area

  • encourage friends to join JASNA-Southwest
  • spread the word about an upcoming event

Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (annually, in April)

  • coordinate other volunteers
  • greet and engage visitors
  • assist with setup and decorating
  • help break down the booth at the end of the festival

Regional Meetings (Spring, Fall and Winter)

  • assist with registration
  • help with the opportunity drawing for Austen-themed baskets
  • serve as a greeter
  • assist with the book fair

Communications support

  • submit stories and photos for the newsletter, website and/or social media
  • report broken links or content that needs updating
  • help build our archive of early JASNA-SW newsletters and event programs and photos

JASNA-Southwest Board

  • fill a vacancy (currently: archivist, assistant treasurer, book exchange manager and festival volunteer coordinator)
  • provide specialized support such as fundraising
